Tradition of dragging monks and giving alms to monks Held annually on the first day of the waning moon in the 11th lunar month, around October, in Mueang District, Songkhla Province. The ceremony begins before the event by covering the pagoda on the top of Tang Kuan Hill. On the day of the event in the morning there will be a ceremony to offer alms to the monks at the foot of Tang Kuan Hill. Hundreds of monks descend from Mount Tangkuan to receive alms from Buddhists. In the morning, there will be monk boats from various temples in Songkhla province passing by for Buddhists to join in making merit and dragging the monks, according to the belief that they will gain high merit. Buddha boats will gather at the lotus pond to participate in a Buddha boat decoration contest. In addition, there will also be cultural performances at the event.
